Through Our Eyes VII is New Canaan High School's 7th annual art exhibition featuring works in all media by 113 current art students. In this exhibition the New Canaan Public School District celebrates the skills, creativity, and the personal voice of its New Canaan High School art students. Through Our Eyes VII features 150 works of art students, grades 9-12, enrolled in several introductory, intermediate and advanced art courses. These courses include: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Photography, Advanced Digital Media, Studio Art, AP Studio Art, Jewelry and Filmmaking. NCHS's visual arts faculty curated the exhibit. They are art teachers Kimanne Core, Jeanne McDonagh, Caroline O'Malley and Jennifer Sinski. Exhibited in Through Our Eyes VII are the 23 award-winning works from the 2019 Connecticut Scholastic Art Awards, the largest number of awards given to any Connecticut high school in this years competition. In addition to the Scholastics competition, students who received awards at Sacred Heart University's Teen Visions 2019 and at the Carriage Barn Arts Center's 39th Annual Photo Show will beshowing their work. Through Our Eyes VII is presented by the New Canaan Society for the Arts and sponsored by Bankwell, HTGInvestment Advisors, William Raveis Real Estate, and The Fritz Eager Foundation for Art Education. Performing at the opening reception was music by NCHS electric ensemble Blue Orcas.
